My thoughts were with the family that had just had their world turned upside down and had made that selfless gift to someone else's family at their most difficult time.

I loved backpacking around the world for two years, I could never have done that without the transplants. I also love that I know what my children look like.

My two donors and their families’ decisions weighed heavily on me, and I have thought about them a lot.

Before my fist cornea transplant, I only saw white. There was just no vision at all from my right eye. Now I can see colour and outlines and I had none of that before. That’s a significant difference for me.

People who register to donate their organs and tissue, and families that honour their loved one’s decision, is such a kind and wonderful thing to do, at such an awful time

Thanks to the decisions of both my donors, and their families who honoured their decisions, I’m able to get on with my life and embrace the many interests I had before
