The Organ and Tissue Authority (OTA) is committed to building cultural competency within the organisation. This involves acknowledging, celebrating, and learning about the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their communities, histories, and cultures. Implementing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and providing mandatory cultural competency training across our workforce are key steps in this journey. These actions will assist us to consider the impact and potential opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders in all aspects of our daily work.
We are committed to creating a culturally safe work environment. This includes expanding our NAIDOC Week activities and training options to enhance our understanding and respect for the experiences and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Through our RAP, we aim to improve our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories so that we can build stronger connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through our learnings we aim to foster these connections and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.
