How DonateLife community partners make life-changing impact

With approximately 1,800 people currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, the need to increase the number of people registered as organ and tissue donors has never been more urgent. DonateLife’s community partners are stepping up to meet this challenge—raising awareness and sparking meaningful conversations through creative projects and grassroots engagement.

One of our 2024 community partners, Enliven, made a powerful impact by delivering presentations and workshops educating multicultural communities about organ and tissue donation. These sessions didn’t just inform, they inspired action.

Among those moved by Enliven’s work was Monica Dhingra, a devoted mother of 2. After attending a presentation, Monica spoke with her family about donation and her intent to be an organ and tissue donor. Tragically, she passed away weeks later from a stroke. But because of that conversation, her family felt confident in saying yes to donation. Monica’s generous gift saved 4 lives through organ donation and transformed 3 more through eye and tissue donation.

We thank all our generous donors like Monica, and their families who say yes to donation and give others a second chance at life. Organ and tissue donation can save and transform the lives of people who, in many cases, are seriously ill or dying.

Silva Nazaretian, Director of Enliven, encourages everyone who may be eligible, to consider applying for a DonateLife grant.

‘Becoming a DonateLife community partner in 2024 has empowered us to deepen our engagement with multicultural communities and walk alongside them to deliver a culturally responsive campaign on organ and tissue donation – honouring their stories, strengths and lived experiences,’ said Silva.

‘The impact on our organisation has not only been reflected in the successful project outcomes, but in the voices we've helped amplify, the trusted relationships we've strengthened and the meaningful change we've driven at grassroots level.

‘We encourage other organisations to apply to become DonateLife community partners. It's more than a partnership – it's a chance to make a lasting difference for our organisations and the communities we work with.’
