We’re thrilled to announce that six groups will share over $368,000 in DonateLife Community Awareness Grants to boost awareness about organ and tissue donation among young Australians in 2023.
We know that young Australians, aged 16 to 25, support organ and tissue donation, but only 10% are registered on the Australian Organ Donor Register.
Low registrations are despite research showing many young adults support organ and tissue donation but simply haven’t gotten around to registering on the Australian Organ Donor Register or overestimate how difficult it is.
With a dedicated focus on this group of Australians in 2023, the grants help us to deliver projects that connect with young people, help get them registered and get them talking about organ and tissue donation – extending the reach of existing DonateLife community awareness activities.
Projects include youth-focused social media campaigns and content, along with research projects, an annual awareness event, and the creation of digital educational resources specifically for young Australians.
We’re excited to share more about these projects as the work progresses.
