Each year, thousands of Australian lives are saved and transformed through the generosity of organ and tissue donors, and their families.

This DonateLife Thank You Day, Richmond Union Bowling Club (RUBC) is getting involved to acknowledge and celebrate the people who make organ and tissue donation possible.

And we’re doing it the best way we know how, with a day of lawn bowls!

Social bowlers are encouraged to get involved, and spectators are welcome. Get your team of 3 together and book your spot today.

  • Funds raised, minus event costs, will be donated to the Royal Melbourne Hospital to support its work in transplant care.
  • RUBC will have raffles and games throughout the day to raise additional funds, so bring along your coins and cash if you’d like to get involved.
  • DonateLife will be there throughout the day to answer your questions about organ and tissue donation and how to register as an organ and tissue donor.

Cost: Entry is $60 per team, or $20 per person. Spectators can attend free of charge, so bring your friends and family.

Experience required: None! Social bowlers are very welcome. RUBC team members will be available on the day to help if you need a hand.

Food and drinks: Grab a snag from the sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation. The Hippie Whippy soft serve and gelati van will also be there, with ice creams available to purchase throughout the day. A portion of its sales will be donated to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The bistro will be open as usual for Sunday roast from 12 pm to 3 pm. The bar will also be open, with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.

We want all Australians to talk about organ and tissue donation. If you want to be a donor, make sure you tell your family and friends.

Registering is easy and only takes one minute. All you need is your phone, Medicare card and one minute to register.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, your medical history, your lifestyle, what country you’re from or how healthy you are — you can still register as an organ and tissue donor.

The Organ and Tissue Authority acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present.
