The National Strategy

The Authority developed the National Strategy in consultation with the Advisory Council, the SMD network, the Department of Health and Ageing, and other interested parties in the latter part of 2009-10.

The National Strategy articulates the strategies, outcomes and targets by which the strategic breakthrough issues will be addressed. This is the first iteration of the National Strategy. Importantly, the Strategy reiterates the co-dependency of the Authority and the state and territory governments in achieving the goal of significant and sustained increases in organ and tissue donation rates in Australia.

The Strategy is intended to be an iterative document which will be revised and updated as the Authority establishes itself further and as implementation of the National Reform Agenda and its nine measures continues to see much needed fundamental and cultural change within the sector.
