This learning sequence explores the scientific and social implications of organ transplant through the story of Coen Ashton, who received a lung transplant as a result of chronic cystic fibrosis. The sequence investigates the impact cystic fibrosis had physically and socially on Coen and provides background information on the disease. The activities guide students to research and prepare a brochure that could be used to support other students who suffer long term illnesses. The resource also links to other first-hand stories of other young Australians who have benefited from organ donation.
