Denise Drysdale

TV Presenter

"I am proud to be a DonateLife Ambassador. I have been a registered organ and tissue donor since the 1980s, and have carried the card in my wallet.  I've also made sure my family know what my donation decision is. When my mother passed away four years ago, at age 84, I consented for all of her organs and tissue to be donated. They were able to use her corneas to give other people the gift of sight. The decision was easy because I believed so strongly in the good that could be achieved through donation and because I knew it was something she wanted. Just knowing that when you die, you can help somebody to live is a truly amazing thing."

With a career that spans 52 years on Australian Television, Denise "Ding Dong" Drysdale is truly a Dame of the industry. Her warmth and humour have delighted Australian audiences for decades, following her debut on The Happy Hammond Show as a 10-year-old.

Since the 1960's, she's been a magazine pin-up, entertained the troops in Vietnam and worked with legends of entertainment like Graham Kennedy, Ernie Sigley and Daryl Somers. Her regular appearances on The Ernie Sigley Show in the 1970s not only marked the beginning of a cracking showbiz partnership, but also saw Denise win two Gold Logies.  From there she has hosted her own  shows and made countless appearances on an almost endless list of Australian shows including Countdown, Norman Gunston Show, Homicide and a regular role on Hey Hey it's Saturday.

No stranger to hosting morning television Denise knows how to mix information, entertainment and laughs and is always willing to go the extra mile for the show, whether that be dressing as a giant chicken or abseiling off a Turkish mountainside.

In 2010 Denise celebrated 50 years in the entertainment industry and joined Network Ten's new morning show, The Circle airing 10am weekdays.

Currently residing in Gippsland, Victoria, Denise is a mother to two grown sons and a menagerie of animals and still enjoys touring Australia with her live shows.
