'Giving Life' Exhibit opens in Melbourne - DonateLife Week 2016

The ‘Giving Life’ Exhibition opens on Sunday 31 July to coincide with DonateLife Week 2016 at Magnet Galleries.

Photographer Andrew Chapman and DonateLife Victoria were given rare behind the scenes access to capture the organ and tissue donation process, resulting in a truly stunning 40 photo exhibition. ‘Giving Life’ charts the pathway of the organ donation process, the people involved and their dedication to applying the gift of life.

On the topic of organ donation, Andrew says: "I'm only here because of a miracle of modern life. At the beginning of 2011, following catastrophic liver failure, I was in a coma with only days to live, when I received a donor organ. For this gift of life I am extremely grateful, not only to the donor and family, but also to the wonderful team of doctors, nurses and support staff at Melbourne's Austin Hospital Liver Transplant Unit. My new liver has allowed me to continue working on my photographic projects and hopefully contribute to our society for many years to come. I urge anyone who has no objections to organ donation, to consider registering at Donate Life. And once you have registered, don’t forget to tell your family and friends of your intentions."

This powerful exhibition has been developed in conjunction with DonateLife Victoria and is open to the public between 31 July - 10 August 2016 at Magnet Galleries, 2nd Floor 640 Bourke Street in Melbourne.

Visit the DonateLife Victoria gallery to view the photos online.

Thank you Andrew and all who contributed to this must-see exhibition.
