AKX User Manual - August 2015

The Australian Paired Kidney Exchange (AKX) programme User Manual contains clinical and administrative information on the practices of the Australian Paired Kidney Exchange (AKX) programme.

Following implementation of the AKX programme in Australia in August 2010, the AKX User Manual was developed in conjunction with the National Coordination Centre to provide the processes, policies, protocols and forms required to support the AKX programme.

The manual has been under review since 2013 to reflect refinement of existing clinical practice and administrative process amendments. Major amendments to practice change have been endorsed by the AKX Oversight Committee and the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand’s Renal Transplant Advisory Committee (RTAC).

This electronic Version 2 of the AKX User Manual supersedes the previous hard copy version provided to participating hospitals, transplant centres and clinicians.

It is the responsibility of all users to ensure the current version is in use.
