Community awareness
The agency encourages the community to act on their support for organ and tissue donation by registering their willingness to be a donor on the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR) or on their NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) driver's licence. People can choose which organs and tissues they wish to donate and can change their mind at any time. When deciding to register as a donor, it is important to update your details on the driver's licence. The important thing is that people discuss with their families their decisions on becoming an organ or tissue donor as the family is always asked to give consent for donation to proceed.
