Our committees

Several committees have been established to provide advice to the Chief Executive Officer on relevant matters related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Australia.

The Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is responsible for high level corporate strategy, planning and priority setting for the Authority, setting expenditure and funding budgets, and establishing and monitoring necessary governance systems.

The Audit Committee

The Audit Committee, a central governance element for the Authority, was established by the Authority's Chief Executive Officer in accordance with section 46 of the FMA Act and the Financial Management and Accountability Orders 2.1.1 and 2.1.2.

The role of the Audit Committee is to provide independent assurance and assistance to the Chief Executive Officer to meet the Authority's responsibilities under the FMA Act, particularly in relation to risk control, compliance frameworks and external accountabilities.

The Grants Committee

The Grants Committee was established by the Chief Executive Officer to provide advice to her on proposals for discretionary grants and to make recommendations accordingly. The Grants Committee comprises Authority, government, community and marketing representatives.

The Principal Committee

The purpose of the Principal Committee is to provide the Chief Executive Officer with strategic advice from Commonwealth, State and Territory Government perspectives.

The Principal Committee will provide advice on policy, legislative and administrative issues relevant to the Australian Government's national reform package and other organ or tissue donation and transplantation matters, as well as advice on wider health sector issues and emerging trends that are identified as having implications for the implementation of the national reform package and organ or tissue donation and transplantation matters more broadly.

The Jurisdictional Working Group

The purpose of the Jurisdictional Working Group is to support the Authority to progress operational issues associated with implementing the reform package measures from Commonwealth, State and Territory Government perspectives. The group provides advice to and works directly with the Authority to implement policy, legislative and administrative matters.
